Age of revolution (SOLD)

30″ x 30″ x 1.5″ acrylics on wood.

You know that old Scorpions song, ‘Wind of Change’?

In the USSR, counterculture rock music grew underground until the late 80s. That’s when the USSR began to officially open up to Western culture, including rock music. The Scorpions’ 1990 song, ‘Wind of Change’, became the anthem for the political and cultural revolution happening in the Soviet Union I played the music video for my history class as a primary source.

After class, I played it again and turned to this painting. For over a year, every time I faced this painting, I felt stuck. But at that moment, with ‘Wind of Change’ playing (of all songs!), it was suddenly done.

Thank you, Scorpions. Thank you, revolution.
